Pink est la fille de James Moore, vétéran du Viêt Nam et de Judy Kugel, infirmière.
Elle grandit dans une petite ville juste en dehors de Philadelphie.

Côté famille, ses parents se sont séparés alors qu'elle avait 6 ans. Elle a un grand frère nommé Jason, né en novembre 1977. James est en quelque sorte le mentor de P!nk (selon les dires). P!nk et sa mère ne se sont jamais réellement entendues ; c'est ainsi que cette dernière mit sa fille, alors âgée de 15 ans, à la porte, qui alla vivre chez ses amies. Elle fait quelques petits boulots (McDonald's ou Pizza Hut) et décide finalement de retourner vivre chez son père.


Carrière musicale [modifier]
Après un premier album très R'n'B, elle sort un deuxième album pop rock tandis que le troisième est rock voire punk, puis le quatrième orienté pop...

Ses chansons soulignent les dérives du monde américain, comme on peut l'observer dans les paroles de Stupid girl...

Bien qu'on l'ait initialement perçue comme un autre visage dans l'univers pop de la fin des années 90, Pink a rapidement démontré des signes qui font d'elle l'une des rares artistes à sortir du moule duquel elle est issue. Née Alecia Moore, le 8 septembre 1979 à Doylestown, en banlieue de Philadelphie, elle reçoit son surnom de Pink alors qu'elle est encore toute petite. Elle grandit dans une famille portée sur la musique de telle sorte que dès l'âge de 13 ans, elle est une habituée de la scène des bars de Philadelphie où elle se produit comme danseuse et ensuite comme choriste pour le groupe hip hop Schools of Thought.

À 14 ans, elle commence à écrire ses propres chansons et la même année, un DJ accepte de la laisser monter sur scène les vendredis pour qu'elle chante. C'est lors d'une de ces soirées qu'un représentant de MCA Records la remarque et lui demande de passer une audition pour le groupe R&B Basic Instinct. Elle est choisie, mais la formation ne fait pas long feu. Elle ne reste pas sans emploi bien longtemps puisqu'on lui demande rapidement de faire partie d'un trio R&B entièrement féminin nommé Choice qui obtient un contrat avec LaFace Records, une étiquette menée par L.A. Reid et Babyface qui font confiance aux trois filles sur une simple maquette.

Malheureusement, l'histoire se répète et le groupe se sépare en raison de divergences d'opinions sur l'orientation musicale à prendre. Cependant, au cours de la brève période passée en studio avec Choice, Pink a le temps d'enregistrer, à la demande du réalisateur Daryl Simmons, un passage pour la chanson « Just to Be Loving You ». Impressionnée par le résultat, Pink reprend goût à l'écriture et L.A. Reid n'hésite pas à lui offrir un contrat en tant qu'artiste solo. C'est ainsi qu'elle entreprend l'enregistrement d'un premier opus en compagnie d'une panoplie d'auteurs et de réalisateurs de l'univers R&B.

Paru en 2000, Can't Take Me Home remporte un fort succès et s'écoule à plus de deux millions d'exemplaires aux États-Unis. Pas moins de trois extraits - « There U Go », « Most Girls » et « You Make Me Sick » - se hissent parmi le top 10. Elle passe un été en tournée avec *NSYNC, mais se lasse rapidement d'être assimilée à la scène pop adolescente malgré sa personnalité qui ne cadre pas avec le genre.

Avant d'entreprendre l'enregistrement de son second album, la jeune chanteuse participe à la reprise de « Lady Marmalade » en compagnie de Christina Aguilera, Mya et Lil' Kim. La chanson, qui se retrouve sur la bande originale du film Moulin Rouge, remporte un vif succès international atteignant le sommet du palmarès aux États-Unis et en Angleterre, notamment.

À la fin de 2001, elle lance le simple Get the Party Started qui devient son plus gros succès et sa chanson signature, se hissant dans le top 5. La pièce donne un sérieux coup de main à l'album M!ssundaztood qui atteint rapidement la certification double platine. On y retrouve une approche vocale plus personnelle et une sonorité plus éclatée. Pink n'a pas hésité à faire appel à Linda Perry, ancienne chanteuse de 4 Non Blondes, qui contribue à apporter un côté plus rock à l'album. Dans la même foulée, elle compte sur la participation de Steven Tyler d'Aerosmith et Richie Sambora de Bon Jovi. En 2003, elle contribue une chanson au film Charlie's Angels : Full Throttle en plus d'y jouer un petit rôle dans une scène d'action. Elle lance également un troisième album intitulé Try This au début de novembre. Après 3 ans d'attente, elle a fait paraître en 2006 le bien nommé I'm Not Dead, propulsé par les singles "Who Knew" et "Stupid Girls" où elle se moque ouvertement des mini-starlettes de Hollywood, accros au shopping, aux soirées clubbing et à l'affut du moindre photographe pour faire durer leurs éphémères carrières...

Et ce n'est pas le cas de Pink, dont la carrière semble bien partie pour durer. Après 30 millions d'albums vendus dans le monde entier, elle sort le 27 octobre 2008 un nouvel opus, Funhouse, introduit par "So what", le premier single, sur les ondes en août 2008.

Toujours entourée de producteurs de talents: Max Martin (Britney...) Eg White (Adele, Duffy...), la chanteuse a elle-même écrit tous les textes de l'album. "Je veux que ce soit le meilleur album au monde!". C'est beau la confiance en soi! N'empêche que ça marche... "So what" est premier de l'airplay aux U.S pendant quatre semaines consécutives et squatte le haut des charts...

Le titre est même nominé aux EVMU (Europe Video Music Awards) dans la catégorie du "titre qui rend le plus accro". Pour cette récompense, Pink est en lice face à Coldplay ("Viva La Vida"), Duffy ("Mercy"), Katy Perry ("I kissed a girl") et Kid Rock ("All summer long").

Fin novembre 2008, elle sort le second single de Funhouse, intitulé "Sober". Le clip est réalisé par Jonas Akerlund, à qui l'on doit notamment les clips de Madonna "Music" et Christina Aguilera "Beautiful"...
